Website Updates on Web Edition

Windows Server 2003 Web Edition is designed for reliable web hosting, but some server features are limited compared to Standard or Enterprise editions. The following methods were commonly used to update websites:

  • FTP Uploads: Upload HTML, ASP, PHP, and other web assets directly to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot.
  • Remote Desktop: One concurrent administrative session is supported for maintenance and file edits.
  • FrontPage Server Extensions: Optional publishing support for Microsoft FrontPage 2000/2002.

Limitations: Web Edition is focused purely on web hosting and does not support advanced server roles or multiple remote sessions.
